The No-Go List™
Sorette's Prohibited & Restricted Substances List
The foundation of the Sorette Seal of Approval
At Sorette, we believe that women and families deserve better than guesswork—especially during the most vulnerable life stages. Our scientific standards are grounded in global regulatory research, maternal and reproductive health data, and ingredient safety expertise. The list below represents the authoritative sources we draw from when identifying substances that are prohibited or restricted in products seeking the Sorette Seal of Approval.
We work in collaboration with toxicologists, epidemiologists, dermatologists, OB-GYNs, and public health experts to maintain and evolve this list in line with the latest science.

Essential Oils & Fragrance Safety
In addition to regulatory and toxicological data, we apply elevated caution when it comes to essential oils, fragrance, and aromatic ingredients—especially during pregnancy and postpartum. These ingredients can be complex, with varying levels of evidence around their safety, which is why we take a precautionary approach.
We require absolute transparency in formulation, including disclosure of all components labeled as fragrance, parfum, or natural flavors—both above and below 100 ppm. This allows us to screen for any ingredients that may appear on our No-Go List™, even in trace amounts under 100ppm.
In addition to the regulatory sources listed above, we also reference the following resources to guide our evaluation of essential oils and fragrance ingredients:
